365 Days of Pride: Our Commitment to the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community
At Northern, Pride isn’t limited to a month.
We recognize the immense importance of respecting and uplifting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community 365 days a year. When hiring new teammates, our processes are designed to be inclusive and promote equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability. We believe that every person deserves the chance to thrive and succeed and recognize the immense value that diverse perspectives bring to our organization.
But our commitment doesn’t end with our hiring practices.
We are accredited as a Rainbow Registered business through the CGLCC, which recognizes organizations that are committed to and create safe spaces for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, through inclusive initiatives and exceptional service standards. Accreditation is awarded following rigorous assessment to verify that policies and practices promote inclusivity.
“As a queer person, being part of a Rainbow Registered business that demonstrates enthusiastic support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community fills me with joy,” says Sarah Butterworth, Vice President of Revenue. “Northern's commitments to and involvement with the CGLCC hold everyone here accountable to creating an environment of inclusion, equity, and belonging for all 2SLGBTQIA+ employees.”
Northern has supported initiatives including The Trevor Project and Run for Rocky Annual Charity Run, and the Pride London Festival.
“At Northern, I can show up as my full self without fear of exclusion or harm, which allows me to build deep relationships and focus on succeeding in my role. I hope more business leaders grow to understand that inclusion, diversity, and creating environments of psychological safety — particularly for historically excluded and marginalized teammates — aren't just aspects of a kind culture, but are massive business drivers.”
We’re proud to do our part in helping shape the communities where we live and work into places everyone can call home. Chantal Hunter, Director, People and Culture at Northern says that she is “proud of Northern's year-round commitment to 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusivity.” She adds, “[w]e work hard to create an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Our ongoing efforts continue to foster acceptance, respect, and celebration, while building a workplace community where diversity can strengthen us all.”
