Need to Know
- Northern's fifth Digital Marketing Challenge for Fanshawe College marketing students has concluded for another successful year.
- Our team worked with future advertisers at Fanshawe’s in-house digital agency, Village Creative, to manage students’ digital marketing campaigns on Google, Facebook, and TikTok for ten small businesses in London, Ontario.
- This year marked the fifth installment of Northern’s annual Digital Marketing Challenge for Fanshawe College students. But the true challenge was selecting just three winners from the outstanding group of participants.
Northern and Fanshawe co-fund this immersive learning competition, which gives students in the Business Administration - Marketing and Marketing Management, programs hands-on experience finding real-world marketing solutions for local businesses.
Our team collaborated with aspiring advertisers at Fanshawe’s in-house digital agency, Village Creative, to organize, execute, and oversee the students’ digital marketing campaigns on Google, Facebook, and TikTok for ten small businesses in London, Ontario.
For two months, Fanshawe students worked diligently to bring their campaigns to life and help their clients achieve their goals. The competition culminated in a presentation to a panel of Northern judges, who then selected three winning teams.
In third place, Marketing Management students Nour Al-Osman, Lauren Barrett, Saad Usmani, and Fernanda Cabrera wowed the judges with their campaign for Reed Supplies, a local retailer specializing in accessories for double reed instruments.
Business Administration Marketing students Jillian Trimble, Adrianna Broer, and Todd Hughson earned second place for their Grindstone Blends campaign, an eCommerce brand focused on providing high-quality cereal and pancake blends for fitness and health enthusiasts.
And in first place, Business Administration Marketing students Theone Abalos, Avery Norris, Marion Denny, and Mackenzie Preszcator brought their A-game to their digital campaign for Kebaonish, an Indigenous coffee and tea company.
When asked about their experience during the challenge, the first-place winners commented, that it, "...was a very fulfilling experience. Having a chance to work with a real budget and learn by doing is incredibly valuable and we are extremely thankful [to] Northern for providing this opportunity.”
While the two-month competition was certainly challenging, the team only had words of support for Fanshawe students interested in participating.
“We encourage any future students [and businesses] to get involved with this program…Not only will you provide students [with] the opportunity to build valuable skills, you also get tons of value from the students and free marketing support.”
Thank you to every student and business that participated — you continue to raise the bar of excellence year after year.
